Where is my collection stored?
Your train spots, station choices, notes and photographs are stored locally on your device. TrainDex does not require an account or upload your collection to Mini Thingy servers.
Does TrainDex need location access?
No. Location is optional and is used only when you choose a feature such as Near Me. It provides one-time, on-device distance sorting and is not background tracking or live train information.
Safety
Never trespass or enter tracks, depots or restricted railway property. Stay behind barriers and platform safety lines, follow signs and staff instructions, and only take photographs from places where it is safe and permitted.
PRIVACY
TrainDex UK is designed to keep your collection on your device.
Summary
TrainDex UK does not require an account, and Mini Thingy does not operate a backend that receives your collection. The current app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs. Mini Thingy does not sell personal information.
Collection records and photographs
Train spots, dates, notes, station choices, progress and photographs selected or captured through TrainDex are stored locally on your device. TrainDex does not upload collection photographs or records to Mini Thingy servers.
If you choose a system share action, export a backup or save a generated card, iOS sends or stores the item only at your direction. The destination you select is responsible for its own privacy practices.
Camera and photo library
Camera and photo-library access are optional and used only when you choose to add a photograph. iOS may retrieve an image from iCloud if the selected item is not stored locally. Apple handles that retrieval under your iCloud settings.
Location
Location access is optional and When In Use only. TrainDex uses location locally for features such as sorting fixed railway attractions by straight-line distance. TrainDex does not use background location or send location to Mini Thingy.
Changes
If TrainDex’s data practices materially change, this policy and its App Store privacy information will be updated before the changed version is released.
Retention, deletion and permissions
TrainDex data remains on your device until you delete individual entries or remove the app. You can revoke camera, photo-library or location permission at any time in iOS Settings. Files you export and items you share must be removed separately from their saved destinations. TrainDex does not share user data with advertising, analytics or tracking partners.

The published output contains 2,607 Great Britain records and 54 Northern Ireland records. The Great Britain subset is offered under ODbL 1.0; the Northern Ireland subset retains its OGL v3.0 identification.
